Jennie Lester

Jennie is a research assistant at OpenDevEd. She completed her undergraduate degree in Geography & Sports Science at Loughborough University, and more recently her MA in International Development & Education at Newcastle University. She has a strong interest in female empowerment, through education, and her MA thesis focused on the lived reality of women belonging to the Taita, Kamba, Duruma, and Maasai tribes in Kenya. A previous research assistant role saw her working on a project focused on university impact on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Over the last two years she has spent time in Nepal, working with a female empowerment NGO teaching English, and is passionate about the value of education for country development.
