Analyst
Gugulethu Violet Dube is a research analyst at OpenDevEd. She recently completed her Master’s degree in Development Sociology at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa as a Mandela Rhodes scholar. She also holds an Honours degree in International Business and Trade from the African Leadership University in Rwanda. Gugulethu’s interest in education was ignited by her involvement in co-creating an expansion toolkit for CEOs to help them navigate the complexities of setting up new learning centres. This experience highlighted the transformative power of education and inspired her to focus her career on this field. Throughout her academic and professional journey, Gugulethu has contributed to various projects focusing on education, gender, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), sustainability, and the informal economy in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, and the U.S. These experiences have reinforced her belief that education is the ultimate equalizer, capable of breaking down socio-economic barriers and facilitating upward mobility. In her spare time, Gugulethu enjoys reading, running, and visiting art exhibitions.
